What does your AEO authorisation actually get us?
In practice: fewer documentary and physical checks on entries lodged under our authorisation, priority treatment if a consignment is selected for inspection, and faster access to simplified procedures. It does not make you immune from inspection, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling it. What it does is shorten the queue when you are selected, which on a chilled load is the difference between a same-day release and an overnight in a holding facility.
Who carries the risk if cargo is rejected at port health?
Commercially it follows your terms of sale, and we'll walk you through the Incoterm before we book rather than at the worst possible moment. Operationally, we work to make rejection unlikely: correct documentation lodged early, inspection pre-notified through IPAFFS, and the commodity code checked against the current tariff rather than last year's. If a consignment is held, you'll know the same day what the options are: re-presentation, treatment, re-export or destruction.
What will I pay in duty and VAT?
It depends on the commodity code and the origin. Our estimator gives you a working figure, or send us the code and origin and we'll confirm it.

What's the difference between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland?
Two destinations, two completely different sets of rules. Northern Ireland sits under the Windsor Framework; the Republic of Ireland is a full EU export. We handle both.
